Please take note:
Picking up guides and porters before 9 a.m. and returning to the same reception within 5 hours is considered a 12-hour day (full day). A guide or porter will be billed for the entire day till they return before noon if they are picked up after 9 a.m. A guide’s lodging and meals for up to three nights are covered at a fee of 15,000 RWF if they are asked to accompany a guest on one of the multi-day walking trails. An extra 15,000 RWF would be paid to porters for lodging and meals for up to three nights during multi-day hikes. A fee of 5,000 RWF per night will apply for any extra nights.
For every eight visitors (not including children under five), a guide will be needed. This is done to protect the visitors’ safety and make sure that everyone hears and understands the information the guide presents.
Visitors must either pay the admission fee each day, which covers all paths, or pay the fee each night. The fee is halved for the second and third nights, and subsequent nights are complimentary for a maximum of one week. For instance, the fee is paid once for a single night at the park (including the two days before and after); for two nights, it is paid twice, with the second night being half off. Unless they stay at a recognized hospitality establishment with which the park has a formal agreement, visitors who stay outside the park are referred to as “day visitors” and are required to pay the admission fee each day they are in the park.
There are no entry or activity fees for children under five, with the exception of future zipline and rope courses. Children between the ages of 6 and 12 must pay an activity fee. Adults 13 years of age and older must pay for entry and activities.
At 5:30 p.m., night walks start, and they end between 8:00 and 9:00 p.m. Your guide should be waiting for you at the designated reception.
There are annual passes that, when purchased once, grant unfettered access to Nyungwe for a full year. There are passes for singles, couples, and families. Although admission permits and park special events are not covered by the annual pass fee, members do enjoy a 10% discount on park activities. Before buying a pass, please carefully read the additional terms and restrictions that apply.
Camping equipment and bedding are not included in the tent rental price.
Cash is not accepted at the park.
