Description of the trip

Day 1: Travel to Nyungwe Forest National Park by car from Kigali

Your driving guide will be waiting to pick you up from your hotel in Kigali and give you a briefing as soon as your test results are returned and you are prepared to begin your Rwanda safari. Following the briefing, you will pack your things and leave for Rwanda‘s south.

After learning more about the Rwandan genocide of 1994, you will first visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial Grounds before continuing on to the Kimironko market. Kibuye will be a longer drive. The drive to Kibuye to check into your accommodation takes four to five hours. After being greeted, you will be shown to your overnight accommodations. You will have lunch before continuing on to Lake Kivu. You can choose to read a book or soak your feet on the shores of Lake Kivu, or you can take a boat excursion to enjoy the refreshing breeze. For dinner and a night in Kibuye, you will return to your hotel.

Day 2: Investigate the Kibuye neighborhood

You will get the opportunity to enjoy Lake Kivu on this relaxed day. After your hotel serves breakfast, you will travel to the Kibuye neighborhood. You can go to the nearby hot springs or even participate in the local initiatives of the Kibuye community.

You might also choose to take in the area’s pure air and the sandy beach. If you would like to take part in the tea harvesting process, you can visit a few tea plantations. Before nightfall, you will return to your hotel and spend one more night in Kibuye.

Third Day: Return to Kigali

The last day of your safari is today. You’ll awaken prepared to wrap up your journey. After breakfast, check out of your hotel and make your way to Kigali. If you have time and didn’t do this on the first day of your Rwanda safari, you could take a moment to stop by Lake Kivu. You may also stop by a tea plantation to see how tea is made from seed to cup.

As you advise your driver guide, continue on to Kigali for drop-off at your hotel or at the Kigali International Airport for your return flight.
