DAY 1: Travel to Volcanoes National Park and arrival

Our safari guide will meet you at the airport in Kigali and take you to Volcanoes National Park. Traveling north passes through Rwanda’s stunning terraced hillsides, which showcase the country’s topography, which consists of more than a thousand hills.

Spend the night at Virunga Lodge for luxury, Le Bambu Hotel for midrange, or Muhavura for cheap.

Day 2: Volcanoes National Park gorilla trek

You will travel to the Parc National des Volcans park headquarters after breakfast. After receiving an orientation from the ranger guides, you will begin your gorilla trekking adventure in the bright mountain forest on the Virunga slopes with a packed lunch. After tracking, you could choose to visit Ibyiwacu Expocher’s village to see a traditional performance.

 Spend the night at Virunga Lodge for luxury, Le Bambu Hotel for midrange, or Muhavura for cheap.

 DAY 3: Tracking golden monkeys in Volcanoes National Park and then spending the night in Nyungwe National Park

You will go golden monkey tracking after breakfast, which should take two to three hours. The most vulnerable primates in the volcanoes are these golden monkeys. Following the hike, you will drive to Nyungwe National Park, stopping along the way for lunch and picture opportunity. The biggest montane forest in Central Africa, Nyungwe Forest is home to 13 different species of primates, including substantial populations of Rwenzori colobus and chimpanzees. In Nyungwe Forest National Park, tracking is on slick, steep hillsides, and visibility is erratic. There are also about 300 different species of birds, orchids, and butterflies.

DAY 4: Tracking Chimpanzees in Nyungwe National Park

After breakfast, make your way to the park headquarters where the park warden will brief you on the dos and don’ts of tracking chimpanzees. After there, the route will head to the chimpanzee hiking trail’s beginning. Along the walk, chimpanzees, vervet monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, and baboons are all common sights. Go back to the resort to unwind, or opt to take a guided nature walk in Nyungwe Forest National Park.

 DAY 5: Make your way to the airport to catch your journey home, capping off your safari.

Return to Kigali after breakfast. Depending on when you are leaving, you might want to take advantage of a city tour that includes a visit to the genocide memorial site.
