3 Days Congo gorilla trekking safari

3 Days Congo gorilla trekking safari

A 3 Day Congo gorilla trekking safari   that sees you cross the Congo into Virunga National Park provides an experience distinct from that of Uganda and Rwanda. The increase in the price for gorilla permits in Rwanda has made silverback gorilla trips and safaris to Uganda and DR Congo better and more economically feasible. In Rwanda, a gorilla permit costs $1500, whereas in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, it just costs $400. This three-day Congo gorilla safari to the magnificent Virunga National Park is intended to provide our guests with an affordable, yet exceptional, chance to experience gorilla trekking in the park, which has a lot to offer despite negative headlines and recent closures.

The oldest national park in Africa is called Virunga National Park. The park’s exceptional biodiversity and topography make it unique. Its position in the center of the Albertine Rift is the cause of all of this. It is made up of lowlands, marshlands, Afro-montane forests, and savanna grasslands. Two of the continent of Africa’s most active volcanoes, Nyamuragira and Nyiragongo, are located in the Virunga National Park. In Africa, thirty percent of the most recent volcanic eruptions have been caused by these two volcanoes. They also provide special afro-alpine plant species to the park. Twenty percent of the Rwenzori Mountains, excluding the Virunga volcanoes, are located within the park. 218 different species of mammals, including buffalo, lions, elephants, Thomas cobs, and the uncommon Okapi, can be found in the Virunga region. The world’s greatest number of hippos is found in Virunga National Park. There are more than 19,000 in the many rivies both inside and outside the park.

But climbing Mount Nyiragongo and seeing the mountain gorillas are the park’s main highlights . This area is home to 20% of the mountain gorilla population that remains. Although there are more mountain gorillas in Uganda and Rwanda, the world’s only mountain gorilla orphanage is located in the Virunga National Park. After monitoring the gorillas, visitors can enjoy a free visit to this fascinating center. The entire management of the park is under the jurisdiction of the Congolese Institute for Nature Conservation (ICCN), which has faced numerous obstacles. The finding of oil within the park presents a new difficulty. This can result in the encroachment of oil wells and the destruction of important wildlife habitat on park territory.

The 3 Day Congo gorilla trekking safari  begins in Rwanda and travels via Gisenyi to the Congolese town of Goma. Visit to Lake Kivu and a trip of Kigali are included in the gorilla trekking package in Congo. Our two-day package for a gorilla trip in Congo might also be of interest to you.
