Rules Of Gorilla Trekking
Rules Of Gorilla Trekking: Regardless of where they plan to track gorillas, everyone interested in travel, safari, or adventure must be fully informed of the guidelines that apply to gorilla trekking. Bwindi Forest National Park in Uganda, Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda, Volcanoes Rwanda National Park, and Virunga National Park in Congo are just a few of the tracking location.
The rules listed below must be adhered to when gorilla trekking.
Before beginning a gorilla trekking adventure, one should always wash their hands and be well-groomed.
During the hike, always keep your voice down and pay attention to the park’s inhabitants, including the birds, primates, animals, geckos, reptiles, and many more in the forest.
Keep trash in your bag and return anything you have with you because it’s not appropriate to live like a trash in the park.
After receiving an early morning briefing on the rules and regulations pertaining to gorilla trekking, you will be divided into groups of eight and escorted by a ranger into the jungle.
The rangers and guides will tell you about the mountain gorillas as you go closer, or you may hear noises coming from the forest. But remember that they are not just pleasant primates; they are also wild animals, and they can change at any time. Try not to yell out of enthusiasm.
Remain 7 meters away from the gorillas in the mountains. Keep your distance from the gorillas’ eyes when observing them when you come into contact with them. They are more at ease the further away you stand.
It is advised that you stick together to avoid appearing dangerous to the mountain gorillas, so do not leave the group.
Remember that you are in the forest and not at home, so keep your voice down. If necessary, ask inquiries, but do it quietly.
In the wilderness, avoid eating, drinking, and smoking. Anything that falls could make it more likely for infections to spread. The rangers will show you where to have your picnic lunch in the forest when it’s time to eat your packed meal.
Try not to flee when the gorilla charges, as doing so increases the likelihood of an attack.
Please take extremely careful pictures as flash photography is not allowed.
Remember that these are wild animals, thus you are not permitted to touch or play with the mountain gorillas.
You can only spend an hour with the mountain gorillas there, during which time you can observe them playing, eating, grooming one another, and many other activities. But be aware that if the gorillas appear particularly anxious, the guide may order them to end the hike sooner.
After the incident, you should avoid raising your voice until you are 200 meters away from the gorillas.
Show consideration for the mountain gorillas.
Pay attention to the daily visitor cap in order to reduce the chance of contracting any infections. If you have a communicable illness, you cannot trek the mountain gorillas. However, you can volunteer in the park’s surrounding communities, schedule another visit that will be scheduled by the Wildlife Authority, or receive a refund of your money.
If you must cough or sneeze, keep your distance from the gorillas and cover your mouth and nose to prevent the spread of germs and viruses.
Always keep a 7-meter distance between you and the gorillas to avoid contracting human infections.
Don’t leave any trash, foreign objects, or infectious diseases in the park.
Ask the ranger to dig a hole with a panga if you need to relieve yourself. Make sure it is 30 cm deep, then add soil to fill it in.
