Buhoma Gorilla Camp
Buhoma Gorilla Camp: In Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, one of the most visited national parks in the world, there is a home to a large number of unique mountain gorillas. Every year, millions of people travel there to see these primates, with whom we share 98% of our DNA. In Bwindi, they can be seen or trekked in the four gorilla habitat sectors: Buhoma, Nkuringo, Rushaga, and Ruhija. Here, we discuss the Buhoma Gorilla Camp, which is located in the Buhoma region, one of the four habituation sectors. However, when on a gorilla trekking safari in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, we advise travelers to always reserve lodging that is part of the area where they will be hiking these mountain gorillas.
Furthermore, the Buhoma Gorilla Camp is an ideal and environmentally responsible mid-range lodging option in a forest patch located 400 meters after the turnoff to the Bwindi Community Hospital. It is only a 10-minute drive to the Buhoma Gorilla Trekking and Tracking starting point in the northern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
The camp includes a fantastic restaurant with a view of the gorgeous green surroundings, where guests may savor a delectable dinner in a cool, cozy setting with rewarding natural sounds and wildlife near a creek that flows through a gorgeous woodland area. Professional chefs who are skilled at creating delectable meals, snacks, and much more keep the restaurant running smoothly. At Buhoma Gorilla Camp, they always promise that their clients embarking on gorilla trekking will receive a hearty breakfast and a packed lunch.
Ideally, Buhoma Gorilla Camp is situated close to the local population of Uganda‘s ancient Batwa people and in the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Visitors are always certain of seeing Africa’s powerful primates and having an easy time seeing the local way of life.
Every tourist finds the rooms here to be comfortable and tidy.

Activities available at Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s Buhoma Gorilla Camp
Trekking and Gorilla Tracking
Gorilla trekking is a unique activity in the park that has greatly influenced Uganda Tourism Hub by promoting the nation’s reserves and conservation regions. As we can see, many people travel to Uganda specifically to trek mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, where they are found in their natural habitat. Each journey costs USD 700 per person. Note that you cannot walk these mountain gorillas without a gorilla trekking permit, which can be purchased in advance of your trip to the Uganda Gorilla Destination.
But gorilla trekking begins early in the morning with a training on gorilla laws and regulations. The park ranger will divide you into groups of eight after the 8 a.m. briefing. Following that, you will trek them in their natural habitat with a ranger who will guide you through the dense Bwindi forest, where you can see other species like chimpanzees, colobus monkeys, stunning butterflies, and notable birds, among others. Depending on the gorilla family’s movements, the activity may take anywhere from 30 to 7 hours. You will have an hour to see the gorillas as they play, behave, feed, and survive throughout the day after you have located the family to which you have been allocated. You will also have the opportunity to take pictures and videos for your own memories.
Bird watching
In the meantime, the Buhoma region is a fantastic place to go birdwatching in Bwindi and the finest place to trek mountain gorillas. The African green pigeon, African harrier hawk, fly catchers, African blue, cinnamon-chested bee eater, common bulb, and African emerald cuckoo are a few of the bird species that can be seen.
Experience in the Community
Because Buhoma Gorilla Camp is close to the local village, tourists may easily interact with the well-known Batwa people, who are skilled at entertaining them with their breathtaking traditional dance. Among other things, you will be able to listen to their captivating storytelling.
Wild walks
Visitors can easily explore the park’s pristine state, take a peaceful stroll in the forest, and discover delightful treats from the lodge.
