The little settlement of Kinunu is home to Rushel Kivu Lodge Beach, a protected or private beach area situated between Karongi and Rubavu. Coffee and the village’s pristine beaches on Lake Kivu are its two main draws. Rushel is the only place on Lake Kivu where you can find a natural beach. Those with sufficient swimming ability can reach the nearby desolate island in the bay. The actual lodge is situated on a sink garden that descends to the lake. All amenities are available at the adjacent lodge, which also offers a range of lodging options, from basic tents in the garden to opulent suits.

Golf Eden Rock Beach is a peaceful beach in Karongi that is close to the Museum of Environment. The adjacent Golf Eden Rock Hotel is in charge of overseeing the beach. With restrooms and change areas, the beach is pleasant and well-constructed. Food and beverages are served in the beach bar right on the shore. When at Karongi, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy Lake Kivu.
