Bweza Gorilla Group

Bweza Gorilla Group; The Bwindi Impenetrable National Park’s Rushaga region is home to the Bweza Gorilla Group. There are seven gorillas in this group, two baby gorillas and one silverback.

The Nshongi family, the largest mountain gorilla family in Uganda at the time, formed the foundation of the Bweza Gorilla Group. However, miscommunications among the family’s members caused the group to subsequently split into other groups.

After a number of arguments among the family in 2013, Bweza the Silverback made the decision to split apart from the rest of the family. The family has never closely indicated that they intend to get back together.

The family was initially expected to reunite, but sadly, the park rangers were wrong, and this further led to the group’s 2012 opening to tourists.

Bweza is one of the most fascinating mountain gorilla groups to hike with among all the others in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Observing this family go about their daily lives, feeding, playing, and grooming one another, is one of the most exciting experiences of a lifetime.

The magnificent rolling hills of Kigezi town are traversed on the way to the Rushaga area of Bwindi. In addition, the Virunga Volcanoes’ quite lovely scenery will be enjoyed by you, as will the breathtaking views of Lake Bunyonyi, one of the world’s deepest crater lakes.

Compared to Nkuringo and Buhoma, gorilla permits for Rushaga are not as difficult to obtain, but you should still reserve yours several months in advance to avoid the possibility of losing out.
