Travel Days:

DAY 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park after being picked up in Kampala or Entebbe. Your driver-guide will pick you up from your Kampala/Entebbe hotel or from the Entebbe airport on this day to begin your 5-day gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari. The drive to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park is lengthy, but it’s well worth it because you’ll see beautiful scenery and interact with the local people. Depending on your preferences and the time of day, you will have lunch along way, a photo stop at the Equator, and more optional stops.

The travel time will be eight to nine hours.

Day 2: Tracking gorillas in Bwindi.

Following breakfast at the resort, you will make your way to the park headquarters where ranger guides from the Uganda Wildlife Authority will inform you and assign you to a family group of gorillas to hike with that day. The two ranger guides will accompany you into the dense, Impenetrable Forest to begin your search for the endangered, uncommon mountain gorilla species as soon as your group of eight individuals is confirmed. From the location where they were last observed the day before, the gorilla search always proceeds. You will only be able to spend an hour interacting with these renowned creatures once you get at their location, and you need always maintain complete silence. It is acceptable for you to snap pictures and so forth.

Gorilla tracking can sometimes be strenuous depending on the trek that day which is normally determined by weather and the movement of the gorillas in the forest but given the fact it is a very well-organized activity you have 99% chance of seeing the gorillas on your trek. Expert trackers lead the journey and keep an eye on the gorillas’ movements throughout the day. This allows them to determine where the gorillas nested for the final night, which is where you should begin your search for them. DAY 03: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park

Take a morning game drive with everything you own in the car and explore the Mweya Peninsula. If you choose not to go on a game drive, you can still visit the Katwe Salt Lakes after driving to Kibale National Park, where you’ll stop for lunch along the route. You will have an amazing opportunity to witness the local birds and monkeys during a nature walk in the Bigodi Swamp upon arrival. With over 335 bird species and 13 different species of primates, Kibale Forest National Park is a well-liked destination for birdwatchers and enthusiasts of primates. Four to five hours of driving                          Dinner and overnight stay at Turaco Treetops Lodge or the Chimpanzee Guest House.

DAY 4: Bigodi Wetland Walk and Chimpanzee Tracking

After an early breakfast, you will be taken to the Kanyanchu head office to receive a briefing regarding the track that you will be working on in a few hours. From that point on, you will begin tracking chimpanzees, but you will also see twelve other species of primates today, including vervet monkeys, gray-cheeked mangabeys, and baboons. Dinner and overnight stay at Turaco Treetops Lodge or the Chimpanzee Guest House

DAY 05: Departure back to Kampala/Entebbe to end the 5 Day Gorillas and Chimpanzee Trekking Safari
