Gorilla trekking in Ruhija Sector; gorilla trekking is an exciting activity that involves trekkers moving on foot into the tropical rainforest in search of the habituated mountain gorillas and spending an hour with them in their natural habitat. Ruhija sector is one of the gorilla sectors located in the Eastern part of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Four habituated gorilla families—Bitukura, Oruzogo, Mukiza, and Kyaguriro—live in the Ruhija area and are accessible for daily trekking. In contrast to the rainy season, when the gorilla trekking paths are muddy and slippery and make trekking challenging, the dry season brings less rainfall to the park, making access roads and gorilla trekking trails dry and manageable.

Directions to Ruhija Sector                                                                                                               Ruhija sector may be reached by road; it takes approximately 7 to 8 hours to get there from Kampala, passing through Masaka, Mbarara, and Kabale. Ruhija sector is situated in the Eastern portion of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The Ruhija sector can also be reached by air; to get there, arrange for scheduled or charter flights from Kajjansi airfield or Entebbe international airport to Kihihi airstrip. From there, it takes one to two hours of driving time to get to the Ruhija park headquarters.

Additionally, visitors can reach the Ruhija sector from Kigali, Rwanda, by flying into Kigali International Airport, connecting to the Ruhija Park headquarters via the Katuna border, a 4- to 5-hour drive away.
