How to get to lake Mburo National Park: Have you ever wondered how to go to Lake Mburo National Park? Visitors can take either the road or the air to get there. When on a Uganda Safaris Tour, visitors who intend to travel by road are advised to use a 4X4 wheel drive safari vehicle.

The Mbarara area in western Uganda is home to Lake Mburo National Park. With a 370 square kilometer radius, it is Uganda’s smallest savannah national park. Along with other wildlife animals like zebra, impala, eland, buffalo, oribis, Defassa waterbuck, leopard, hippo, hyena, topi, and reed buck, the national park is home to roughly 350 different species of birds.

There are thirteen lakes in Uganda‘s Lake Mburo National Park, but Lake Mburo is the most well-known and visited lake there. It takes three and a half hours for visitors to travel from Kampala to the national park.

Lake Mburo National Park is reachable by road.

It takes roughly three and a half hours to drive the 228 kilometers from Kampala to the Park. There are three entrance gates to the national park: Kyanyanshara Gate, Sanga Gate, and Nshara Gate. Visitors can enter the park through any of these gates.

The renowned and opulent Mihingo Lodge is located near the Kyanyanshara Gate. It is located 14 kilometers west of Lyantonde and only 18 kilometers south of Akagate Trading Centre.

An alternative route that leads to the Nshara Gate is the 9-kilometer dirt road. About 500 meters west of Akagate Trading Centre, this route bends south off the main road.

Additionally, visitors can enter Lake Mburo Park through the Sanga Gate. To get to Sanga Gate, just take the 13-kilometer gravel route that leads from the main road at Sanga Trading Center. Lyantonde is 27 kilometers apart from Sanga Trading Center, and Akagate Trading Center is 13 kilometers away.

Travelers from Kibale National Park can also reach Lake Mburo National Park in Uganda by way of Ibanda and Rushere. It takes roughly three and a half hours to get from Kibale to Lake Mburo Park. Visitors who want to return to the national park following a chimpanzee trekking excursion in Kibale National Park will find this easy.

It takes between two and a half to three and a half hours to travel the 186 kilometers from Queen Elizabeth National Park to the Park via Ishaka and Mbarara.

Visitors can also access Lake Mburo Park by plane. Aviation firms such as Areolink Uganda provide visitors direct flights from Entebbe International Airport to Mbarara town, and these take about 1½ hours. However, flight lengths for these domestic flights can vary depending on the aircraft routing, so make certain first inquire for the flight schedules with your reputable Tour Operator Company like Budget Gorilla Trekking before booking for a domestic flight.
