Mubare gorilla family
The Mubare Gorilla Family is situated in the Buhoma area of the south-western Ugandan national park, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. There are 400 mountain gorillas in impenetrable national park of Bwindi.
The park is located in a nation that is home to half of the world’s mountain gorilla population.
The Mubare Gorilla Group is one of the ten habituated mountain gorillas in the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. One of Uganda’s oldest gorilla families, the group underwent two years of habituation prior to opening its doors to tourists in 1993. (which implies the group was trained to be near to humans). Mubare is a term from the area that means “Hills.”
The Mubare Gorilla Group was initially spotted by tourists in the hills, which are located deep within the impassable national park of Bwindi.
Sixteen gorillas make up the Mubare Gorilla Group, which is commanded by Ruhondeza the silverback. The family lost a lot of members over the years, until an attack in 2012 reduced the group to only five after some of the females were taken away.
The family’s dissolution was brought about by the deaths of children, fighting deaths, and member migration to other groupings.
Regretfully, in June 2012, the group’s leader Ruhondeza passed away in his sleep. At age fifty, he passed away from old age. You get the chance to see his grave when you get to Buhoma Sector.
Following Ruhondeza’s death, Kanyonyi the silverback emerged as the group’s leader after he succeeded. He added eight new members to the family.
Trekking with the group can last up to five hours. trek to get acclimatized to one of the gorilla families in the Buhoma region of the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
Since there are only 8 gorilla permits available per day to see this group, it is recommended that you make reservations in advance. You will get to spend an hour with the Mubare Gorilla Group watching them go about their daily lives, playing, grooming, and exhibiting their nests, among other things.
